about

MUSIC FOR INSTALLATIONS is a project of Pieter Gyselinck from Belgium. The recordings on the CD were edited from the live performance on 'The Night of the Museum' on 28th of November 2013 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. The soundscapes are inspired on the surroundings of a forest and the merging senses due to synesthesia. In the museum was on that moment also an exhibition of the painter Čiurlionis. He was known to have synesthesia. The music was played in the half circled central hall room between beautiful sculptures and columns. The sounds were enhanced *by the video work displayed by Niek Cornil, who perfectly translate the music into images. You find some short clips of the music on the You Tube Channel of Music For Installations (www.youtube.com/user/Music4Installations). The two form since then a strong duo where Music For Installations performs and where Niek mixes video live next to the artist. In this session, he played also two tracks from the musical project Haukijärvi. Music and soundscapes from this project were created on location in Finland, while residing there during one month at Arteles Pieter has been active on the electronical front for over ten years now and impressed before with his LOUNASAN project. MUSIC FOR INSTALLATIONS is based on self-created soundscapes and field recordings coming from personal and external source and fits perfectly in empty, dark places.... the accompanying soundtrack to get through the night.
